I'm training as a clinical psychotherapist and solution-focused hypnotherapist, with a background in psychology and counselling — though my path here was far from a straight line. Years spent running businesses of my own taught me more about people, pressure and change than any course ever could. That blend of training and real-world experience is what I bring to every person I work with.
My own turning point came over five years spent solo travelling around the world with little more than a backpack. I lived through more cultures, worldviews and hard situations than I can count, and watched my own assumptions come apart and rebuild into something steadier. I learned first-hand that people are far more capable of change than they realise — and that conviction sits at the centre of how I work.
Whether you're living with anxiety, a habit you can't shift, a knock to your confidence, or the relentless pressure of a demanding career, I combine psychotherapy and hypnotherapy in a way that's warm, practical and grounded in both evidence and life experience. No — and this surprises a lot of people. This work is solution-focused, which means we spend our time looking at where you want to get to and how to get there, not digging back through painful or heavy details. You never have to re-live or recount your trauma to make progress; in fact, dwelling on the difficult stuff works against the calm, forward-focused state we're building together. You only ever share what you're comfortable with.
Yes. Solution-focused hypnotherapy is grounded in psychotherapy and neuroscience, with a growing evidence base behind it. It works by helping your brain step out of the stress response and build calmer, more useful patterns — most people notice a shift within the first few sessions.
No. Hypnosis is simply a deeply relaxed, focused state we call trance — a bit like daydreaming or being absorbed in a good film. You stay fully aware, in control, and can't be made to do anything you don't want to. Most people just find it pleasantly calming.
We start by talking — about how things are now and where you'd like to get to. The second half is relaxation, where I guide you into a calm, focused state and we reinforce the positive changes you want. You leave feeling rested, not strange.
It depends on what you're working on, but most goals take around 8 sessions — and depending on the case and complexity, sometimes up to 12. Stopping smoking is usually a single 2-hour session. I'll give you an honest sense of this on your free intro call.
Yes. I work mostly online over Zoom, and it's every bit as effective as meeting in person — you get the same results from the comfort of your own home, anywhere in the UK.
Completely. Whatever we discuss stays between us, in line with professional ethics and data-protection rules. This is a private, judgement-free space.
